Forum: etree Subject: Please do not upload files of bands that haven't been OK'd yet

It has occured to me that some people upload a show or two by an artist that has not yet been OK'd for inclusion in the archive.org project, with the intention of importing the show once the band gets ok'd and set up ... the problem is that many of these bands are not set up in a timely manner, or the user just is hoping (in the case of a popular commercial band) that they will 'eventually' be approved.

Because space on the upload server is very tight (hovering near mid 90% full) I was just thinking the above might be a significant reason why the space is so full, when shows should be moving off the server as soon as it is imported and approved.

So, please just hold off on uploading non-approved shows / bands till they are free and clear on the archive. doing so will free space for authorized band uploads and make things run a lot smoother at archive.org. the same goes for if you already have a show uploaded by a band that isn't approved: please go into your upload directory and delete those files. you can upload them again sometime in the future when that band is fully approved.

thank you.

Just as a point of interest, I think that the upload server is set to delete any uploads that remain stagnant for 30 days.
